Welcome to our latest recruit: Tony
Since Waddle was acquired by Xero at the end of last year, our recruiting has gone into overdrive with friendly new faces appearing in the Waddle house on an almost weekly basis.
The first of these was Tony, who joined us in January. Tony comes from a corporate banking background, so he loves the relaxed environment and collaborative, productive way of working he's found at Waddle. When he's not coding, you'll find him camping, kayaking and generally enjoying himself in the great outdoors of NSW.
A big welcome to the team! How has life in the Waddle house been so far?
While it’s definitely been a bit of an adjustment coming from a big corporate, I can honestly say it’s been fantastic working with such an effective team. The main call-outs are how comfortable everyone feels to speak their mind, the very homely décor of the office space and the Friday beers / wine to finish the week.
Who is Tony Wang? Do you have any hobbies? Secret talents?
I am fintech'er who loves working from anywhere. On the beach, in the tent, in the park. I enjoy travelling, camping, kayaking and soccer - all for fun only though, no competition 😎.
Tell us a bit about what brings you to Waddle. What were you doing before you got here?
I heard about Waddle several years ago. I was impressed by the product, the business, the tech and the non-blocking way of working! Before joining, I worked in the banking system for 10+ years, going from a giant global bank to an investment bank to a neobank. Banks have been offering invoice financing for a time, but Waddle is doing it smarter and providing a better user experience.
What is your first impression of Waddle? The platform? The team?
I was very impressed by Waddle. It's such a non-blocking, productive and highly collaborative team. Everyone is ready to help each other.
What are you hoping to achieve here with us?
I would love to contribute my experience and knowledge to make Waddle a better product, the Waddle team a better team, and give all of our customers a better experience.
