Waddle's engineering team has been experiencing something of a growth spurt lately, as we welcomed 4 new talented developers into our Chippendale home, 2 each either side of Christmas.
So in the first of 4 Meet The Waddler blogs in quick succession, meet Ellai! He joins Waddle not long after moving to Australia and is as excited by the opportunities to grow and learn and develop the platform, as he is by our casual dress code and Friday drinks.
A big welcome to the team! How has life in the Waddle house been so far?
It's been an amazing ride so far. The environment is relaxed and everyone is supportive and helpful. I particularly like the dress-down setting. Fridays are a blast where people hang-out and grab a beer or two.
Who is Ellai Dinglasan? Do you have any hobbies? Secret talents?
I'm addicted to Manga (Japanese comics) and a Maroon 5 fanatic. I have watched all Marvel movies and my favourite writer is Neil Gaiman. At home, I do cross training when not monkeying around with my 3 kids.
Tell us a bit about what brings you to Waddle. What were you doing before you got here?
I migrated to Australia from the Philippines around 10 months ago. I worked as developer for a payment processor in my first 6 months where we did integration with the Stripe platform. Prior to that I worked as software engineer for 4 years in Benefitfocus, a US-based company offering a Health Benefits Enrolment solution. I was also consultant for JP Morgan Chase for many years. I was introduced to Waddle by my very good buddy Jason.
What is your first impression of Waddle? The platform? The team?
Young and vibrant. It's a growing and thriving organisation. Working for Waddle for the last 2 months has made me hungry again to learn new technology and skills. There is no organisational red tape at all.
What are you hoping to achieve here with us?
These are exciting times to be part of Waddle as there's a lot of partnerships and integration that's happening and brewing. I would like to learn the platform as fast as I can and contribute to the company's goals wherever and whenever I can.
